What does the CMR insurance contract represent?
The contract concluded between MOLDASIG S.A. and the transport company, covering the carrier's liability for goods located in the insured vehicles mentioned in the policy and for which a goods transport contract has been signed.
The contract covers the following risks:
- Destruction and/or damage (breakage) of the goods, loss (shortage) of the cargo as a result of unexpected, unpredictable, and unintentional events occurring during the operation of the transport vehicle included in the insurance contract.
- Liability for damages caused by "errors and omissions" resulting from non-fulfillment or improper fulfillment of contractual obligations caused by:
- delay in delivery;
- release of goods contrary to retention instructions;
- delivery of goods to an incorrect address, requiring additional costs to deliver them to the correct address.
- Liability for the insured's additional expenses:
- reasonable expenses incurred by the carrier to prevent or minimize the damage;
- legal expenses.
- Additional risks: theft, refrigerated goods, ADR goods, vehicles.
What documents are required to conclude a CMR contract?
The carrier's liability insurance contract is concluded based on a Request-Questionnaire. The documents required to complete the request are:
- excerpt from the State Register of Legal Entities;
- copies of the technical passports of the vehicle and trailer;
- copies of the rental/leasing or loan agreements for the vehicle and/or trailer, etc.;
- copy of the CMR waybill, invoice specifying the type of goods, quantity, and price.

What is an insured event, and what actions should the insured take when it occurs?
When an insured event occurs, the insured must:
- Immediately (within 24 hours), depending on the insured event and the practices in the respective country, notify the nearest police, fire department, or other authorities authorized by law, located close to the event site, and request the issuance of documents regarding the causes and circumstances of the event, the extent of the damage, and any potential culprits. These documents must be presented to the Insurer.
- Notify the Insurer in writing about the occurrence of the insured event no later than two working days from its occurrence, providing the following information:
- the circumstances of the event (date, place, causes, and conditions of the event);
- the type of goods affected by the event, measures taken to limit the damage, and their location;
- an estimated amount of the damage to provide potential instructions regarding the disputed goods.
- Notification must be made in writing and sent by mail, fax, or email to [email protected], using channels that allow for objective recording of the notification. It will only be registered at the Insurer's legal office.
